We traveled to Owerri to face relegation-threatened Kun Khalifat FC on matchday 31 of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season, losing what was already three points in hand after a late dramatic goal from the home side in the last minute of additional time.
LINE-UP: Michael Atata; Olanrewaju Molade, Emmanuel Matthais, Uche Jaguar, Gift Udoh; Aderemi Adeoye, Dennis Mse, Tosin Oyedokun, Farouk Salami, Joseph Arumala, Abayomi Ayodeji .
It was an absolutely intense opening ten minutes of the game with almost all of it being played in our half as the lads found it difficult to get out and eventually, it was a start that brought a goal in the 10th minute when a rebound was tucked in.
The next ten minutes saw us revived, albeit a goal down, but with vigor and energy. An early change in the 20th saw Abayomi Ayodeji taken off due to injury and was replaced by Tomiwa Awojobi and four minutes later, the equalizer came.
Joseph Arumala was gifted a pass from the opponent and he hit it first time from the edge of the box and through a crowded area past the goalkeeper. It was a goal that took his scoring tally to double figures, 10th of the season.
The first half continued back and forth with no clear chances as the scoreline was level going into the break.
Folarin came on at half time as we’re gradually getting accustomed to. Eight minutes later, he was on the scoresheet, heading home a corner from near post to give us the lead. It was the second time in consecutive games Folarin would come on and score within eight minutes.
The home side piled up the pressure in search of a leveler and we also had a few chances to extend our lead but first, Olanrewaju Molade was shown a second caution and was sent off so it was down to 10 for us.
Chinedu Akuvuo came on and had a chance late on as we soaked in pressure. Through on goal from half field, the striker lobbed the goalkeeper who was way off his off line but only missed the goal by inches.
With the pressure building and ten minutes added to the game, the home side scrambled an equalizer in the final minutes of added time to end the game level 2-2.
