Football weekends don’t wait around. Another weekend, another test. The Nigeria Premier Football League keeps rolling, and this time the road takes us to Minna for a clash with Niger Tornadoes on Matchday 5.
Last Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, we finally found the breakthrough. After three straight draws to open the campaign, that first win, a 2-0 victory over Barau FC, arrived with relief and a roar, celebrated in front of our own fans. The season was truly underway.
Now comes the next step. Unbeaten after four games, we are one of only three sides yet to taste defeat, the challenge is to carry that momentum into Minna. Niger Tornadoes will ask different questions, but the goal remains the same, to keep the run alive, and make it back-to-back wins.
Facing Niger Tornadoes
The last trip to Minna brought a point. Across two meetings with Niger Tornadoes last season, we got four.
There’s a pattern at play, too. Go back to the opening weekend, a visit to Kwara United that ended goalless, just as it did the year before. Then Matchday 3, at Lekan Salami Stadium, another stalemate, a mirror of last season’s outcome in Ibadan.
History doesn’t always repeat itself in the NPFL, but for now, the signs feel familiar.
Now it’s another trip to Minna, and the hope is simple, to make this one better than the last, and bring back the win that matters.
Team News
James Faith remains sidelined with injury, while Shola Adelani misses out for personal reasons. Moses joins the list of absentees with a knock. The rest of the squad is fit and available for selection.
