When we went to Yenagoa on Matchday 7 and came back with a point against Bayelsa United, it felt like something to build on. So it was only natural that many of you the fans expected us to follow it up with a home win when Bayelsa came visiting on Matchday 8.

Just as you expected, it came early. Ten minutes in, a clever corner from Musa Maliq found Temitope Folarin, and he made no mistake. That single moment was all it took to seal the points against the Benin side.

Now, tomorrow Sunday, we are back at home again for matchday 9. This time it is against the league leaders Nasarawa United as we look to get another win and keep our push going.

Facing Nasarawa United

Let’s take you back a little. It was September 28, 2024, and as a newly promoted side, we were still finding our feet in new territory. It was Matchday 4, at home to Nasarawa United. We had lost two of our first three, one at home and one away, and that day ended in defeat too. But it also gave us something to hold on to, our first-ever goal in the topflight, scored by Chilaka ThankGod.

It didn’t end the way we wanted, but we grew into the league, and when we visited Lafia much later in the season in February for the second leg, it finished in a goalless affair.

Tomorrow’s game will be just as tough as it was last season. Nasarawa United are the current league leaders, with only one loss so far. They have won six and drawn one.

That doesn’t scare us, though. We’ve started this season with an almost completely new team, and we’ve held our own, with just one loss so far. The draws will soon start turning into wins too.

So as they come visiting tomorrow, there’s no room for slacking. All that’s on our minds is winning, and the players are ready to give everything for it.
